Tips for sharing the gospel

This week I read a really helpful book on evangelism: How to Talk About Jesus (Without Being That Guy) by Chan, (reformers.com.au) It's very readable, and very practical - full of useful tips to help each of us share the gospel with our friends. I highly recommend it!

I think most of us would agree, we've got non-Christian friends and contacts, and sometimes quite good relationships with them. But the difficulty is - how do we get to the next stage, and actually start talking about Jesus with them?

One of the great suggestions that Sam Chan has in his book is: introduce them to your Christian friends. If you're having Christian friends over for a meal, or a party, or a BBQ, invite non-Christian friends too. The thing is, lots of people in our world actually don't know many Christians - which makes it easy to think that Christianity is weird and not for them. By introducing them to more Christians, we can tear down some of those ideas, and make Christianity feel all the more plausible - giving further openings.

So here's a challenge for you (besides just reading the book): next time you're getting together with non-Christian friends, invite your Christian friends along! Get them together, and help them see that being a Christian isn't that rare or odd - but that actually, it's really plausible and good. What an opportunity!
